September 21st is celebrated as International Peace Day across the world.
But “What is Peace?”
If someone looked up this word in the dictionary, chances are it would say something about tranquility, and non-violence.
But in my opinion it is much more than that – “It is the feeling that everything is right with the world.” How do you experience it? When everyone around you in your family, your circle of friends and your neighborhood is happy, eager to love, accept and relate, you feel at peace.
Peace for me is making someone smile – Just imagine a world where everyone laughs and smiles at each other. How wonderful it is just to imagine! This world will be a heaven.
Try giving your old and unused toys to a poor child. A toy that is of no use to you anymore can be the thing of joy for someone, it will bring a smile to his face. The feeling you get after watching that poor child smile because of you is “Peace”. Make an effort of putting a smile on someone’s face and you’ll never be forgotten. It gives your heart a lift and helps create a cycle of happiness that is infectious in the best kind of way.
Making someone smile may change the world; maybe not the whole world, but their world.
So on this International Peace day – “Be the reason someone smiles today”. If you have the power to make someone smile; DO IT, the world needs more of that. link
Parents always want to offer the best nutrition for their child. They are always keen to know most appropriate foods as per the child’s age. How the food looks, how it tastes and whether the child accepts it are major factors in whether the food is adopted by the mother – but the nutrition quotient in the food must also be considered.
Most parents rely on doctors for knowledge and information about right foods. Unfortunately, doctors are busy in their clinics and offer limited advice. Food for infants and children is usually determined by tradition, suggestions by family and friends, family food habits and the mother’s own opinions. The end result is often the wrong choice of food and incomplete nutrition. Choice of food gets guided more by taste rather than on health benefits.
There is so much junk food available everywhere – easy access and peer pressure makes our children gravitate towards empty calories, rather than healthy fresh food. Today 1/3 to 1/2 of all children will develop diabetes in their lifetime, where 1/3 are overweight; where lots of diseases like cancer, ADHD and autism are on the rise.
Children are wise, and given the right information and tools, they will change the world and their bodies for the better.
So much information is available on the internet today. We can read about the nutritional benefits of various types of food and the quantities in which they can be balanced. There are scores of veg. recipes, non-veg.recipes and ideas, that can attract the child towards healthy food.
With honest information, we can make the best decisions for ourselves and for our children. Let’s take charge of our children’s health and help this generation of children eat a healthy diet so that our children can live a long and healthy life.
It’s ten days since we invited Lord Ganesha into our homes. He has showered his blessings on us and its time to bid farewell to him. At this time, one wonders how the practice of idol immersion in water was born. Here is the science for the same.
Fresh water fills up in lakes and ponds during the rainy season. To reserve this, the old clay or soil at the bottom needs to be dug out, aired and replaced. So traditionally, people have made the idol of Lord Ganesh with this clay. We worship this idol with turmeric and other natural #herbs during the Ganesh festival and immerse the idol in the same #water #source from which it was made.
Due to their #natural healing properties, the herbs help the #aquatic plant and animal life to #flourish. That’s a great reason to abandon plaster idols and go back to traditional #eco-friendly #practices. We can see that time honoured traditions have their basis in science and logic.
A few groups have also fallen back on science to provide answers to environment friendly disposal methods of POP idols. Citizens of Kolhapur and Nashik have come up with innovative ideas and have taken up the initiative to implement them. They have demonstrated that science is not only something to be taught in classrooms, but also to be practically implemented.
If every household takes small steps to be eco-friendly, we can make great strides towards a green and joyous festival season.

and get a happy glow that matches the sun
Chew on something so thoroughly, learn something so well
roll over and wag my little tail, if I had one

Hello Kids !!
Its that time of the year again – when you all celebrate my birthday. I love my birthday – just like you. Decorations, sweets, singing, dancing, bright colors, new clothes – what fun !!
But the best part of any birthday is friends – right ? That’s the part we all look forward to the most.
So friends, participate wholeheartedly in the Ganpati festival – at your homes and in the societies where you live. I know, the school loads you with homework, revision sheets, etc. Exams are around the corner and the question papers are tough. Everyone is worried about marks. But social festivals are educational too, aren’t they ? They teach you to interact with people, work in teams and have fun!!
So hope to see all of you on my birthday and in the 10-day long party 🙂
